Themed around the RAF, and including a fly past by the Red Arrows, the 55th Edinburgh Tattoo was groundbreaking in many regards. At the time the largest single gathering of military musicians in the UK, the 2004 Tattoo also included a performance by the People’s Liberation Army of China, the first performance at the Tattoo by a military band from China.

The sensational finale, comprising the complete 1000 strong cast, brought procedings to an emotional and poignant close as The Lone Piper, high on the castle ramparts, plays the haunting lament, ‘Donald Blue’. Also included on this DVD is a behind the scenes featurette.
